About the Team 

The Recommendations Product team at Roku is dedicated to building an AI/ ML first personalization and monetization optimization platform that powers all the streaming experiences across the Roku ecosystem. The Recommendation team is vital in driving growth across key company KPIs, leading to improvements in Viewer Engagement, Subscription Signup growth, Daily user reach, Customer satisfaction, and more. With Generative-AI, we are now rapidly solving streaming content discovery problems that were previously tedious. We aim to build a personalization engine that seamlessly powers Roku’s platform experiences and subscription touchpoints with user individualization in mind.  

 
About the role 

 
In this high-impact role, you will lead projects focused on Subscription growth, platform discovery innovations, and many other ML-powered consumer-facing features. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced technical environment with the acumen to execute 100s of AB tests, think at the internet scale, balancing strategic vision with meticulous attention to detail while approaching challenges from a data-driven and ML systems-design perspective. You will work closely with various stakeholders to conduct product discovery, identify gaps, establish goals, develop requirements, prioritize initiatives, and lead product roadmaps from conception to launch and ongoing development. 

What you’ll be doing 

• Partner with cross-functional PMs, Subscription business leads, Partnerships, Data science, and UX/ UXR teams to define a high-impact ML Personalization & Optimization roadmap. 

• Draft, get consensus on, and drive Product roadmaps based on in-depth research and analytics insights. 

• Be strategic in thoughtfully articulating what success looks like for each feature and the best way to reduce user and business risks (E.g., building MVPs, early hypothesis testing, lab testing). 

• Author PRDs/ feature guides and get cross-functional feedback to enable the Engg teams to develop features that meet business and user needs. 

• Champion execution by partnering closely with ML Research and Engineering, Merchandizing, and Analytics to execute the roadmap and take capabilities to the next level. 

• Roll up your sleeves and get into the micro details of content metadata, tooling needs, the AB testing plan, the GTM plan, and acceptance criteria (quality and KPIs). 

• Understand Data and Privacy-related guidelines with the legal and compliance teams. 

• Drive feature prioritization, process improvements, and product development with one eye on key business KPIs and the other on product quality. 

• Data analysis in partnership with the experimentation and analytics team to investigate issues or research product decisions. 

• Execute feature launches end-to-end and closely track dependencies. Keep leadership updated on the roadmap progress. 

• Drive customer research, behavioural data research, and A/B tests to deepen user and content understanding. 

We’re Excited If You Have 

• 7+ years of experience in Product Management, shipping products with engineers, designers, and data scientists resulting in significant business impact. 
• Executed in the capacity of AI/ ML-driven Consumer experiences champion who can define personalization features, think at scale, and drive a highly iterative Data science/ML-driven feature development framework. 
• Data fluency and are familiar with ranking and relevance, have worked on large-scale recommendations/ search/ marketplace systems 
• A strong business sense and ability to articulate nuanced product requirements to ML Recommendations engineering. 
• Ran complex AB experimentation to evaluate features and measured incremental KPI lift. 
• Articulated a vision and roadmap to internal and external stakeholders and worked towards a buy-in. 
• A flare of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and higher management for trade-off decisions. 
• Bias towards action through MVP testing/ early validations while keeping product quality standards high. 
• Flexibility regarding changing priorities & business needs; proven multi-tasking skills, ability to meet critical deadlines. 
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in computer science or statistics) and an MBA a plus.
